FREEPORT, Grand Bahama Island - Today marked a joyous occasion for thousands of avid travelers that have for the greater part of three months been in sheer anticipation of the return of one o Grand Bahama's most enjoyable cruise services operated by Bahamas Paradise Cruise Lines.

The MV Grand Celebration sailed into the Freeport Harbor at 7:45am, bringing with it some 1,083 passengers from the Port of Palm Beach. Executives from the Ministry of Tourism were joined by representatives from Bahamas Customs and Immigration and the Royal Bahamas Police Force to receive the visitors in grand style. FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- For the past 15 years Grand Bahama Island has participated in the so-called “Christmas Bird Count” a census that began 115 years ago in the United States and now includes Canada, the Bahamas, Caribbean, South and Central America.

The American Bittern was a rare sighting in the count.

Between December 15th and January 5th on one chosen day, birds are counted within a circle of 15 miles from sunrise to sunset. This year over 60.000 participants observed and recorded birds in their respective countries thereby contributing valuable information to the longest running database in ornithology.
